IRVING THALBERG was born in 1930 and educated at Le Rosey (Role, Switzerland) and Stanford University. He has had two books of philosophical studies published: ENIGMAS OF AGENCY (Allen & Unwin, London 1972) and PERCEPTION, EMOTION, & ACTION (Blackwells, Oxford 1977). The only son of movie actress Norma Shearer and film executive producer Irving Thalberg, he was a professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle until he passed away of cancer in 1988.

THE ZERO PRESS will publish Thalberg's second book of poetry, SEVEN CITIES OF THE EGO, in the fall of 1999.
